Wrist Pain

Hello, I’m Joel Baumgartner, M.D. from Rejuv Medical. Do you know anybody, or have you yourself ever suffered from chronic wrist pain? Wrist pain can be a few different things: it can be injury to the joint; it could be injury to the ligaments or the cartilage in that little joint of the wrist. But most commonly when people think of wrist pain it is going to be arthritis or wear and tear of your first thumb joint here, where your thumb kind of meets the hand. We’re getting away from the cover-ups, the cortisone shots, the chronic pain medications. And at Rejuv Medical our goal is to kind of rejuvenate or repair that joint, the ligaments, the tendons and those structures that hold that wrist joint together; to give you a more normal joint again and not just cover up your wrist pain.

Wrist Pain

With the vast growth in technologies which require repetitive use motion from our hands, this long-term repetitive stress is a cause of arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome. Wrist pain is most certainly becoming a common complaint among patients today. Sudden injuries that result in sprains or fractures lead to many types of wrist pains.

Wrist pains can also be caused by the process of aging. Your fingers or hands may have numbness, tingling, hurt or feel fatigue. Also watch for other lumps and bumps that may appear below the surface of the skin near the wrist and source of the pain.

In order to treat the wrist pain properly, an in depth look at the pain must occure prior to treatment. Wrist pain can have underlying factors based on severity of the wrist pain and based on the root cause of the pain. All these factors leading to wrist pain makes it difficult to diagnose long-standing wrist pain.
