Hip Pain

Hello, I’m Joel Baumgartner, M.D. from Rejuv Medical. Hip Pain can be caused by a lot of different things. Usually, hip pain is going to be a wear and tear process; most likely from arthritis that is developing in your hip joint.  Now hip pain, pelvic pain, and back pain can all kind of overlap. At Rejuv Medical our goal is to get in and dissect what the problem is and actually treat the source of your problem. Whether the hip pain is from your pelvis, the actual hip joint itself, or is it radicular pain radiating from the back. We will get to the source of the problem and get the hip pain treated right.

Hip Pain

The hip is a vast and very complex part of the body. The hips bear a large network of tendons and ligaments that hold the structure of the hips together. Sometimes these ligaments can become damaged, frail, or even strained; hip pain occurs when this happens. Hip pain can also stem from a fall or auto accident. Overuse of the ball and socket joint can trigger degeneration of the cartilage within the joint, thus causing hip pain. Hip pain may also be the result of arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, or even tendonosis. Symptoms of hip pain may include inflammation, fatigue, achy pain, or bruising.

There can also be underlying issues when it comes to hip pain, that may require more attention. Such would include cancers or osteonecrosis. Tumors in the bone would be a cause for hip pain. Osteonecrosis is when the blood flow is reduced to the bones resulting in degeneration of the bones leading to small fractures in the hips.
