Designed to be a hybrid between a medical clinic and a day spa, Rejuv Medical offers the following innovative skin treatments - which can only be administered by licensed medical professional, such as a M.D., Aesthetician or R.N.
Intrinsic: Genetics, Medications, Illness and Aging
Extrinsic: Sun exposure (which carries about 90% of the blame in aging skin)
Cosmetics: Playing an integral part in the aging of skin, many of these products contain alcohol, clay and/or bentonite. These are highly drying to the natural moisture content in the skin.
Daily Skin Treatments: The use of abrasive scrubs on a daily basis over exposes the skin and causes dehydration.
Environmental Damage: The free radical damage from pollution causes internal damage that shows on the skin at a later time in a person’s life.
Lifestyle: Not enough water intake, poor eating habits and not enough sleep all cause deterioration of healthy skin cells. Smoking is a major dehydrator to the skin as it is a high free radical producer.
Systemic: Pregnancy, hormonal changes, hormone based medication, antibiotics and acne trauma and/or inflammation. Especially if the acne has been aggravated or picked at (more after in individuals that have darker skin tones to begin with).
Dry Skin: This type has an absence of moisture or inadequate oil/sebum production. Dry skin ages faster, has a loss of elasticity, has a dull/drab appearance and is more like to wrinkle and develop fine lines or furrows prematurely.
Sensitive Skin: This skin develops a rash or reddens quickly and is usually thinner. This skin type is often prone to broken capillaries (telangiectasia).
Hyper Pigmented Skin: This skin type is from an excessive production of melanin (skin pigment) that results in darkened areas or spots or uneven skin tone.
Oily Skin: This is when there is an over production of oil/sebum from under the skin. Oily skin is more prone to breakouts and often has larger pores. Some experts believe genetics and/or adolescent hormonal changes are also key factors in oily skin.
Acne Skin: This skin type happens when the natural exfoliation slows down and sebum acts as a clogging agent in the pore where inflammatory and non-inflammatory responses happen. These responses are often characterized on the surface of the skin by black heads, white heads, papules, pustules, nodules and/or cysts. Factors that affect acne are nutrition, hormones, picking, over drying, skin irritants such as laundry soaps, softeners and hair products and cosmetics that contain fragrances dyes and preservatives.
