Physical Therapy

At Rejuv Medical we treat all orthopedic and sports medicine injuries spanning from an acute injury to chronic pain. After listening to your history, we will perform a full evaluation and examination of your injury, which will direct us to your best, individualized plan of care. Our treatment philosophy is patient-centered and evidence-based, meaning we use the best practices to get you better. We work with you to determine your goals, whether it’s returning to the field or full independence with daily activities. We don’t just evaluate the afflicted joint, we look at surrounding muscle and other joints that may be contributing to your injury.  Pain and injuries are multi-factorial and we take the time to evaluate and treat each causative factor.

Rejuv Medical is multi-disciplinary clinic and there is an open dialogue between physicians, therapists, and trainers, so we are all on the same page with your personal care plan. In physical therapy, we will act as a bridge between your injury and optimal health. Our goal is to teach you the skills to manage your pain and to continue with an active lifestyle that will keep you happy and injury-free.

Our physical therapy department is headed by Brittney Braegelmann, a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy, one of the only PT’s in Central Minnesota with this designation. This title is awarded to PT’s with advanced clinical knowledge, experience and skills in sports physical therapy. Brittney spent 1 year in a Sports PT Residency Program where she learned from some of the best PT’s, physicians, and athletic trainers in the nation while treating high school, collegiate, and professional athletes.  This extra training and experience has allowed her to utilize unique skills and techniques for all of her patients like video analysis of sport-specific movements, high intensity functional training, return to throwing and running programs, and neuromuscular sport-specific training.

Running Evaluation

Running is a common form of exercise for a variety of individuals, as it is a great cardiovascular workout and takes no equipment. Unfortunately, 20-80% of runners are injured each year due to the repetitive nature of the movement. Running injuries can be caused by weakness, stiffness, altered lower extremity alignment, and faulty mechanics, just to name a few.

At Rejuv Medical, our running injury evaluation includes:

1)      full physical therapy evaluation of the painful joint, focusing on tests specific for runners

2)      slow-motion video analysis of your running mechanics

3)      exercises and/or running drills to correct the reasons you’re in pain

Our goal is to let you continue running. We only make you take time off and cross-train if it is absolutely necessary. If you are asked to cease running, we use a gradual return to running progression that has been shown to decrease risk for re-injury.

All evaluations are performed by a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy. Many other sport-specific movements can be taped and analyzed as well.

Throwing Evaluations

A successful overhead throwing motion utilizes an intricate relationship between strength, flexibility, neuromuscular control, power, and coordination. The repetitive nature, high velocity and precise control required of the upper extremity during throwing puts these athletes at risk for injury. Throwing injuries can be caused by weakness, stiffness, poor coordination or neuromuscular control, and faulty mechanics.

At Rejuv Medical, our throwing injury evaluation includes:

1)      full physical therapy evaluation of the painful joint, focusing on tests specific for throwers

2)      slow-motion video analysis of your throwing mechanics

3)      exercises and/or throwing drills to correct the reasons you’re in pain

Improving your strength, flexibility, coordination and mechanics will allow you to throw pain-free and will likely improve your performance as a thrower.

All evaluations are performed by a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy. Many other sport-specific movements can be taped and analyzed as well.
